Yet another way is to make sure that the CD path or drive letter is
included in the list of directories where MapInfo will search for tables
not found straight out of the workspace info.
If you decide to edit the workspace manually, place the wor file in the
tree structure so that you can use the notation ..\Mapfiles\ >  to avoid
problems with different drive letters.

I often edit workspaces in order to translate cryptic file oriented
table names to readable ones. Pity that MapInfo has no good interface
for this.
