As for the matter of combining objects, I have seen this and I have
reported this to MapInfo. I sent them sample files and they filed a bug
on this after examining my data. I reported this to the list in the
below post.

Hopefully this will be fixed at some time in the future.

Kris,

Yes, I have seen this problem as well in large files. The problem also
exists with objects\combine in 5.5 MapInfo tech support looked at some
sample files of mine this and confirmed that there is a problem with
this in large files.

Be careful when working with combining\buffering large files with many
nodes and overlapping areas in 5.5 because there definately is a
problem.

Hello List I am still experienceing problems trying to create
buffers with
large files. I was attempting to create a buffer around a large street
file,
when MapInfo just stopped responding (this has happened a number of
times). I
did not get the old "Overlaying Objects Error", I just got nothing. I
know that
MapInfo said that in 5.5 we wouldnt get the Overlay Error, but I thought
they
said that they were going to fix the problem not just remove the error
message
box (not being serious, just frustrated). Anyone else having similar
trouble or
am I all alone in my own MapInfo Hell (once agin just kidding, I like
MapInfo,
just gotta vent somewhere and no one else in my office uses MapInfo so
they just
wouldnt understand). Any help would be appreciated.
