The feature is more than obsolete, it is a first class PITA when you are
working with multiple raster files as we do.  An ability to easily disable
this "feature" would be VERY welcome.  Aside from the versatility of Mr.
Sid, the speed of modern processors and video cards makes redraw problems
rather small.  Not infrequently, I will be handling over a gig of raster
images with very few redraw problems.

By the way, ask an AkeView user if they can do that.
