As far as I know Cognos Visualiser uses MapX for displaying maps.
In which case the .gst file is a metafile holding info on the MapInfo maps
available for
MapX.

MapInfo 5.5 has a MapBasic tool for managing geosets (I think its already in
5.0 but I'm not sure).
To my knowledge it's not enough to simply send a new .gst file as the
MapInfo files referenced in this file
should be included.

MapX comes with a geoset manager which is likely to be available to your
client...
