Mr. Eagle,

The Ordnance Survey has a very well written paper entitled
"Transverse Mercator Projection
Constants, Formulae, and Methods",
published in March, 1983.
There might even be something more recent,
but I've found this pamphlet to be extremely useful, and the calculations
(source code examples in BASIC)
are very accurate.

Does anyone know of a simple and free coordinate converter, 
Lat/long to BNG eastings/northings primarily? Or indeed the
