All you really need is to get a graphics card with at least 32MB of RAM and 
save your layout or map window to 22" x 17" or better.  Check your dpi in 
the display settings to check that you are at (72, 96, 120) dpi.  Multiply 
the size of the image you save from the map or layout window by the dpi from 
the screen settings.  This gives you the resultant image size in pixels 
(w/h) from the screen dump.  I would recommend saving as a BMP (Windows 
Bitmap) then converting to GIF if the number of colours in the image is less 
than or equal to 256.  If above 65k colours then save as JPG.  The image 
editing past MapInfo can be done in Paint Shop Pro, PhotoShop or Corel 
Photo-Paint.  I use this method all the time to get images into PowerPoint.
