Hi all,
Every now and again I receive a message on this list
which is generated in a country not using Roman script for their language
(Greece, Japan, Arabian Countries, Israel etc.). Whenever my cursor is located
on one of those messages, a window opens up telling me, that in order to
properly display the message, I need to download a file of several Mbyte in size
from the Internet, which will take anywhere near 20-40 minutes. However, when I
chose to cancel this operation, the respective e-mail message displays
perfectly. I am not interested in seeing any Japanese or Arabian characters if
they were in there, since I can't read them anyway. (The 'helpful' window by the
way takes at least 10 seconds to appear and in the meantime I can't scroll
further through my messages, ..... very annoying! And every time I land on that
foreign e-mail message again, yes, yes, yes indeed!)
Is anyone else experiencing the same? And if so, how do you handle this? Is
there perhaps a way to turn off this option of downloading these exotic support
files?? Or is it another gift to mankind that nobody really wants - such as
piped-in non-music - but that we have to learn to live with?
