I have always wondered which tile is used for vector registration purposes in the case of multiple rasters tiles opened in the same map window. Is it the first tile that is opened and, if that tile happened to be fractionally misaligned to the other tiles (read a slight rotation) during the scanning process, what effect this has on vector creation operations? I would also imagine that any rotational errors would be greatly magnified through the remaining raster tiles if the registering tile happened to be at one of the extremeties of the project. We have always been very cautious about this to the point of closing all tables before seperately and individually opening each raster tile for digitising. I was just looking for a bit of discussion on the pitfalls and benefits of seamless raster tables and any other problems or solutions listers have come accross when dealing with multiple ratser images. Just as a suggestion, one way to provide a "simple" fix to misaligned tiles (read rotational discrepencies)would be to have the registration process offer an option to perform a simple rotation on the underlying raster image. I have seen some mapping software offer this option to physically correct the orientation of the raster image on the basis of a registration and it seams to work well.
