Tony,
The boundary select button can make a selection as you have described simply and
easily.
You can then save the selection as another table if required and then use SQL
select for any sub-selections

Subject: MI-L SQL

hello Listers

a simple SQL question:

what syntax would I use in the SQL Select dialog to select subsets of a
table that fall within the boundary of a polygon from another table ? I
need to select arcs from a roads table coded with particular street
names, which fall within certain municipal boundary polygons from a
second table.

cheers
Tony
