I am responding this message thread several moons later. Better late than never, I hope.
I am pleased to announce that SurfLink 2.0 for MapInfo [5.0 through] 7.0 and Surfer 8.0 is now available. I was the developer of SurfLink 1.1 back in 1997 at GeoTrans. Recently, I left GeoTrans and formed my own company, CertainTech, Inc. CertainTech has acquired the rights to the software SurfLink and two others from GeoTrans. We have been busy for the last couple of months upgrading SurfLink to work for Surfer 8.0. It is now ready. Please visit our website http://www.certaintech.com/surflink.asp for further information. Thanks! Srini _____________________________________________ Ponniah Srinivasan CertainTech, Inc. Sirnivasan I talked with him several years ago at HSI. I do not think he works there any more. May be someone on the list can ttrack him down? -----Original Message----- From: Ron Gutiw [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, March 05, 2002 2:11 PM To: MapInfo-L (E-mail) Subject: MI-L MapInfo and Surfer A while back I posted a problem integrating Mapinfo and Surfer. It was suggested by Kent Treichel that I contact HSI GeoTrans, Inc. that produces Surflink. http://www.hsigeotrans.com/surflink.html Unfortunately, Surflink is compatible with only MI 4.0 and Surfer 6.0., and there are no plans to enhance the software. I will be upgrading to MI 7.0 in the near future and since Surfer 8.0 was released today with some 100 new features, I will buy it this week. The response from other Earth Science people on this listing, suggests to me that a tool like Surflink for MI 7.0 and Surfer 8.0 is in great demand. The old Surflink sold for US$175.00. I would be prepared to pay at least $250.00 for a similar tool. If I was a programmer, I would acquire the rights to Surflink, enhance the code and give HSI GeoTrans a royalty for every copy sold. Does anybody know of another tool out there? How much programming would it take to develop a competing product from scratch? TIA Ron Gutiw, P.Geol. NXT Energy Canada
