My observation is that any objects are drawn in the order of which they are created/added to a table. If you look at the browser of a mappable table, the bottom-most row (associated with an object) would be the last item drawn (i.e. becomes the top most object of that layer since it is the last item drawn). I've made tables editable and manually cut - paste objects to put them on the top of a layer. It's a pain, but it works. Keep in mind that it may be a good idea to pack the tables if you use this method.
Perhaps you could come up with a priortization scheme/sort order and somehow build that into your table as a field that identifies priority. Then you could automate a cut/paste procedure, referencing the priority field??? Though I'm NOT sure if you can execute cut/paste within a MapBasic script. Does anyone know if this is possible? Thanks. I have one layer with lots of lines. The lines have a gray or yellow color. I would like to draw all grey lines first and the yellow ones on top of the grey. I know it would be possible to select the grey and the yellow ones in different queries or separat layers, and manage the order in the table manager - but we don't want to do it this way. Trying to sort the table with the grey lines as first datasets and the yellow lines as last datasets doesn't help. So far I thought Mapinfo draws objects in the order of the datasets but wrong... Any suggestions?
