Maybe mapnik.load_map() could use an extra parameter that would avoid
datasource validation ?
Your wish is granted:
http://trac.mapnik.org/ticket/622
(just needs thoughtful approach to how to expose in xml)
Great! But I'm not sure to understand, how can I use it? Maybe small example?
Yves
What I do not understand, it is already available from the python API in 0.7.2,
or should I build mapnik2 from trunk?
Yes, the late binding patch was applied to both the 0.7.2 development branch
and trunk (mapnik2). So, you should be able to benefit from it is you are
creating datasources via python.

Ok, I thought it was possible to do that when mapnik.load_map() is creating datasource. The wish was to use mapnik as the xml parser and avoid dependencies like lxml or xml.dom.minidom.
Maybe not a good idea though.

Yves
