Sorry I forgot the most important informations.
I use mapnik 0.7.1 and the raster plugin used is gdal.
It's a C++ application I wrote above mapnik to generate images and I only
changed the parameter "png" by "png256" for the render method.
Then I regenerated all my rasters and tried to generate small tiles out of
the raster with the same application.
Those last tiles are in a poor quality of gray scale.
