It seems that once
one makes a selection set that one can do pretty much anything one wants
independent of the layer it is a subset of. Except thematic mapping.
For example. Suppose
I select out the Zip Codes in my state with populations less than 5,000. Now I
would like to make a thematic map of say, per capita income of just those zip
codes resulting in a map that has thematic coloring of that selection set where
the remaining Zip codes on the map (not in the selection set) are blank.
One way is to make the selection set and then export it, put it back over the
original Zip code layer and make a thematic map with the subset. Any ideas about
a more efficient way?
