Richard:
I greatly enjoyed reading your comparison, and we will seriously consider
your suggested improvements to Maptitude. One note:
>A problem I have in AV as a result is that I cannot open two projects
>simultaneously. Its one or the other. Same with Mapt but I can open two
>different MAPS from two different work spaces.
You can open two (or more) workspaces. Just choose File-Open Workspace,
open one, then repeat. A workspace file saves all of the settings for all
of the windows, including their position. A map file saves all of the
settings for that map window, except its position. Same for dataview,
layout, and figure windows. So, you can mix and match opening workspaces
(which remember multiple windows) and the files that remember individual
windows to get the windows that you want for a particular work session.
In sum, a workspace file is a snapshot of the database that keeps track of
your work session. Map, dataview, etc. files are snapshots of the subset of
that database that refer to a particular window.
