Maptitude - http://research.umbc.edu/~roswell/maptitude.html

Hi,

Despite being the creator of this listserv, and having actually gotten
some real (so-far, internal) Maptitude for the Web applications working, I
still feel I am just an advanced beginner in Maptitude. Alas, I want to
work with Maptitude, but I simply know MapInfo far better, and can get in,
get out and get done. (I've been using Mapinfo for a decade, so it's only
natural.)

It's hard to switch. I'm challenged by things like ACTUALLY doing thematic
mapping in Maptitude. ACTUALLY joining files. I know sometimes you just
have to work with things for a while to get the hang of things...

I'm VERY pleased by the Maptitude for the Web Applications. So I'm
quite motivated to actually learn this stuff.

Why does the color set change every time I switch to "Settings" from
"Styles" when making a thematic map? I'm trying to show 7 gradations, and
the details matter. It's hard to create a color set that does what I want,
and especially given that every time I set the color break level on
"settings" it removes the colors in "styles." I can't seem to save a
color set.

I know we've been over (some of) this ground before, but this thematic
mapping problem is confounding me, nevertheless.

I'll likely be posting a number of "little-problem" posts to the list over
the next few weeks. I sincerely hope it doesn't drive anyone nuts. Since
there's still less than 100 people on the listserv, it seems worth really
using this forum to answer questions that puzzle us.

Welcome, by the way, to all the new folks who've signed on in recent
weeks. We are 95 people, from 12 countries.

Climbing the learning curve,

Margie
