Marjorie,

Merging  features from one layer into another can be accomplished with the MergeGeography() function in GISDK.  This function will merge ALL features from teh source layer into the target layer.

Some time ago I wrote a macro to merge only selected items from the source layer.  I think it could work for you.  I can dig it out and mail  the code (if you are familiar with GISDK), or compile it for  you to use it as an Add-Inn.

Cheers,

In MapInfo it's so easy to move a map object (line, polygon or point) to a
new layer.

Just :
- copy.
- make target layer editable.
- paste.

I'm almost astonished at how I haven't figured out how to select
Maptitude streets, and move them into my new bike routes layer.

How do I do this?

(I really don't want to do this in MapInfo. Streets are just too big to
have too many duplicate file layers around.)

10 years as a MapInfo "fanatic" but, still a (struggling) Maptitude
toddler,

Margie
