Scott was the first to package reformatted TIGER/Line and Census data at a
reasonable price. Maptitude packaged much the same files, based on
TIGER/Line, Census, and other data, with the software at an even more
reasonable price. Being shapefiles with dBASE tables, Scott's data took
lots of CDs. Being CDFs with BIN tables, Maptitude only required two CDs
for the U.S. data, all of the files were nationwide, and the streets
supported Locate by Address.
ArcView StreetMap comes closer to the streets and related geographic files
bundled with Maptitude, but does not include ZIP Codes, tracts, demographic
data, and the like. And costs (hold on) $9995 for the version based on
GDT's Dynamap/2000 (1 CD, but only 14M addressed street segments), or $495
based on GDT's Dynamap/1000 (4 CDs, 102 shapefiles).
