A couple of years ago I did a large national mapping project. It had
highways, counties, several point data layers. Arcview, because it
was so slow and sometimes would just lockup altogether, was not
even useable. I went to maptitude then because it would handle
the entire national set and redraw the maps within an acceptable
period. This was comparing AV3 and Mapt4.01. I really doubt if
AV has gotten any better. In my experience most of the upgrades
have just proven to slow it down even more. They rely on
technology (faster sexier computers) to make up the difference, but
that only goes so far. Another thing. If you have to use any of the
AV add-ons (many of which are not needed with Mapt) it may slow
AV down even more. Bottom line? AV's a slug.
