I appreciate the reply. I don't think the license agreement restriction is a
problem for users either, for the reason stated in the message below.
However, what I was wondering originally was if there would be a problem for
someone wanting to build CDF read-compatibility into a "free GIS viewer"
program? I take it that this would not be allowed, although I haven't heard
this stated explicitly. If so, would any restriction hold for the DBD format
as well?
Bottom line, it would simply be interesting to know if, as Margie brought up
earlier, it is possible at all for any Caliper file compatibility (DBD or
CDF) to be built into third-party GIS software. I'm not expecting to see it
in ArcExplorer any time soon (!), but is it possible elsewhere?
