Maptitude - http://research.umbc.edu/~roswell/maptitude.html

hi philip,

welcome to the discussion and we love the product!!

i might be the only person who keeps harping on shortcut keys. my mom says
i'm like a terrier. once i get on to an idea i don't let go of it for
anything.

first, let me say that i somehow missed the upgrade notice from 4.1 to 4.2,
so you may have addressed these issues. at this point, i expect we'll just
wait for the announced 4.5.

anyway, i'm interested in a few of the standard keys, like ctrl-o for open,
ctrl-p for print, and ctrl-s for save. i'm so used to using them in other
programs, and then i have to use a different system when i use maptitude.

i would also like shortcut keys on the dialog boxes. some of the buttons
have underscores under the letters on them, but they don't work!
example use ctrl-l to bring up the layers dialog (oops that doesn't work...)
then use the arrow keys to select a layer in the middle of a map. then use
the alt-w to move the select layer down. then do it again (doesn't work)
then do alt-y to change the styles (doesn't work).

i have a suggestion for usability:
in the layers dialog, everytime you go to add or drop a layer, you get a
confirmation dialog. then the changes are locked in.

i think it would be easier if you could add and drop all the layers first,
and then have a "cancel" button on the layer dialog if you changed your
mind.

the reason:
i set up "standard" maps. one example is a market area map which has a
hilited area and a star for a site. what i want to do is move the map to the
new region, drop the old area and site layers, then add the new ones. so i
have to confirm two adds and two drops, instead of just confirming all the
changes.
