Maptitude is capable of reading live data from a number of GPS
devices. The only requirement is that the device needs to be able
to output its data to the computer serial port in the NMEA 0183
format.

While most GPS devices are able to emit this format, the DeLorme
Earthmate does not appear to be among them. As far as I can
gather, it emits the data in Rockwell's proprietary binary format.

You could check to see if the software that came with the device
can create a database (remember, Maptitude can read just about any
GIS format you can think of).
