I wish Maptitude would be able to do dynamic segmentation of route systems.
I would not want Maptitude to be able to define route systems as TransCAD
does, but it would be really useful if it could create a line layer from
tabular data. In that way you could display road attributes without knowing
anything about linear referencing.
Ways this could be implemented:
1. Dynamic segmentation functionality integrated with Maptitude (probably
too costly)
2. Add-on to Maptitude (in much the same way Arcview uses its "Network
Analyst") - probably the best approach, if feasible
This addition to Maptitude would make the program even more complementary to
TransCAD since it is all but impossible and largely unnecessary to justify a
copy of TransCAD for every user in an organisation. Route systems need only
be constructed by a few people in an organisation; however, many users,
especially in the transportation field, could take advantage of dynamic
segmentation functionality.
