we have a request from a supporter, who wants to use the LibreOffice
logo on his invoices, to show his appreciation.

Any relation of the type of business / services to LibreOffice?

While I really like people strengthening our brand, I'm a bit sceptical,
because I'd like to avoid confusion - he's no official partner and does
not invoice on our behalf.

Any objections we grant him the use, given our logo for external use
(http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Marketing/Branding#Logo_resources_for_community_members_and_external_use)
is prefixed with something like "created using" or "powered by" or
"proud user of"?

No objection in general. It happens often that a logo is used to show that a product is supported.
But confusion could pop up...

Maybe it's good to ask an example of the use?
And over time - by confirming or denying some, we'll come to a general policy.

Cheers,
