Hello Syed

I got it to work, thanks :-)

Hi Isabelle,

$confFile, you need to set this to the registry file on your local
machine. Some example registry files are under biomart-perl/conf/*.xml

the best way to begin is to use conf/martDBLocation.xml

that's only if I have a local database. For demo purposes, students will connect to existing repositories and use martURLLocation.

place your perl script under e.g biomart-perl/scripts

this is not necessary. Students will not be able to write to the biomart-perl install directory anyway...

set the $confFile variable to the said registry file.

make sure, you set the environment variable PERL5LIB pointing to your
perl modules plus path to biomart-perl/lib/

I used the -I option and it worked fine :-)

best greetings,

Isabelle
