Hayek, and memetics as proposed by folk like Richard Dawkins, Susan Blackmore, and Daniel Dennett. Carling discusses and critiques these folks' work and attempts to make a case as to why his own selectionist historical materialism represents a superior approach to the problems that these other people have been attempting to deal with.
