Joaquín Bustelo WROTE: -- Venezuela Movimiento Bolivariano and the PSUV http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Socialist_Party_of_Venezuela -- the MAS in Bolivia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Movement_for_Socialism_%E2%80%93_Political_Instrument_for_the_Sovereignty_of_the_Peoples -- Alianza Pais in Ecuador. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PAIS_Alliance So? Despite my obvious penchant for hyperbole -- mea culpa -- Joaquin Bustelo knows darn well that I was making a point in reference to the western left's experiences over the past few decades. If we want to see these formations he references as working model to aspire to -- and I'm kosher with that -- that still doesn't deal with the DIY. And the how to DIY was my question.I wasn't wallowing in preferred ignorance. Way back when -- to 1983 (30 years ago) -- Peter Camejo was talking up the Salvadoran Syriza -- the FMLN http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Farabundo_Mart%C3%AD_National_Liberation_Front -- as a template to aspire to, but aside from an inspirational impact here in Australia and among his collaborators in the US -- and CISPES of course -- I'm not sure if the message registered deeply among the international Marxist left. I've met with Jorge Schafik Handal Vega in 2008 prior to the 2009 Salvadoran election victories and I'd gladly foster any promotion of the experiences of the FDR/FMLN and of these other currents in Latin America ( plus stuff like Marta Harnecker's et al http://links.org.au/node/1374 ) BECAUSE I think we can learn so much from them. But saying that doesn't change the point I was trying to make. dave riley ________________________________________________ Send list submissions to: Marxism@greenhouse.economics.utah.edu Set your options at: http://greenhouse.economics.utah.edu/mailman/options/marxism/archive%40mail-archive.com
