That is quite irrelevant, because socialism (in any sense worthy of the word) is not on anybody's agenda anywhere in the world today. For that to happen working-class political organization, generally moribond, needs massive revitalization. What makes the Syrian conflict "worthless" is that the battle cries, representing the two camps, are "Legitimacy of the State" versus "Allahu Akbar." Both represent reactionary, antidemocratic, ideologies (shared by their governmental backers, respectively).
