Not as serious as the current NYPD revolt, but there are similarities in a police force throwing the mayor under the bus. This article also looks much deeper at how the police operate as an independent political institution, as a self serving bureaucracy, primarily to the benefit of its staff and its leadership, not unlike any government bureaucracy.
