Of course the problem for Israel has never been Assad, but just the
extent to which Assad's survival has become bound up in the Iranian
occupation since 2013. Of course, one could say much about how "real" or
otherwise is even this Israel-Iran "conflict," but let's leave that
aside for the moment and say, OK, this creates some dilemma for Zionist
policy (which was rabidly pro-Assad 2011-2013). So enter Assad's other
main ally Russia - led by "I support the struggle of Israel" Putin - to
rescue all from the dilemma. With a key connecting role played by best
friend of Netanyahu, Assad and Putin: al-Sisi.
