Thanks heaps for all this impressive material from the ground. While a part of the left cheers as Putin and Assad wage their "war on terror" by killing the people in these photos and videos, who they think are all jihadi head-choppers, and another part says "plague on both your houses" as these people are slaughtered, and the US proclaims sour grapes that it cannot join in (in a non-reckless way, acc. to Trump), the people there have little choice but to fight on. "Interesting, it is reported that very little protests took place in the areas controlled by Zenki – a treacherous gang which fought against HTS in spring and which is said to collapse currently" One would certainly hope they collapse. Actually, Zenki was one of only three non-jihadist groups that initially joined HTS when it was formed in Dec 2016. I think part of the reason was that it was completely alienated from the rest of the rebel formations, so since Nusra/JFS was in conflict with them, it simply joined them opportunistically. Later, I guess they figured Turkey was offering a better deal, so they switched to the anti-HTS side. They were always a highly idiosyncratic group, on the FSA/soft-Islamist borderlands, that fought effectively in the past, but degenerated into thuggery. They became famous around the world as the only group apart from ISIS (and the regime) to have ever carried out a beheading, of a young fighter for an Assadist brigade that the regime had conscripted from a Palestinian camp under its control (the overwhelming majority of Palestinians in Syria have been pro-revolution from the outset). The reason it went around the world, of course, was precisely because it was such a unique event; but it enabled the world Assadist and chattering westerner movements to say "see, the moderates are beheaders too." Of course, Zenki condemned the action of its members, but have never shown evidence of what punishment, if any, was taken. Good riddance.
