But those were massive socialist parties. We are years away from facing such problems in the US unfortunately. In terms of creating a mass party, I think it is useful to study the example of the Greens, a party whose momentum ten years ago could have led to something very significant. That momentum in fact is what led a fifth column to develop inside the party backed by DP money and lawyers.
