Comrade
I am less sure that postmodern actually means a return to a 'golden era' etc. Newby
uses it to describe living, 'postmodern condition', life in a semmingly homogenuious
world, a shallow cosmopolitism in which what is deemed modern is gleemed from the
large capitalist centre's - NY, London, Paris, etc, you could go into almost any major
city and find people wearing the same style of clothes, same labels and so on. Even
the same shops and restarunts, you could get an Indian take-away or whatever, in all
most any city, selling the same menu's with the same recipe catering the same taste
etc.

It all relates on what era you actually call modern!
