There is probably some underestimation of Turkey’s own aggressiveness in the OKDE statement, even if there is some “justification” from a “national” point of view as you explain well (and with Erdogan’s current ally Bahceli from the fascist MHP making “war” noises all the more dangerous).

Thank you for your comment. The statement of OKDE(Spartakos) is not an analysis; it is rather a part of the discussion inside ANTARSYA and the broader Greek left on how to respond to nationalism and warmongering. We have indeed bent the stick towards the Greek aggressive policy. This is because everybody else in the Greek left condemns the Turkish aggressive attitude and the cowardice of the traitorous Greek bourgeois government who is about to cede Greek sovereign rights to the enemy! Unfortunately, the whole intraleft dialogue in Greece is trapped on the question of who is the aggressor, as if a, by definition, aggressive bourgeois government would cease to be aggressive whenever it is forced to a defensive stance. Turkish aggressiveness is real but it is always up to the Turkish working class to deal with it. As for the Greek working class, denouncing the Turkish aggressiveness (without any objective possibility to fight it) and therefore objectively siding with its own bourgeoisie against the Turkish working class, is clearly not an option.

The right-wing Greek government has played the card of ultranationalist narrative to cement the national unity around an impossible claim, namely that Turkey must be excluded from east Mediterranean sea. The map circulated by Greece is telling

The situation in Greece is much the same as the so called "macedonian issue" and the Prespa agreement. Back then New Democracy was championing the ultranationalist narrative against the Macedonian people both in Macedonian Republic and Greece. But then it was SYRIZA willing to be the scapegoat that striked the Prespa agreement, which the Greek bourgeoisie wanted and with which its main party, New Democracy, eventually accommodated. But now there is no SYRIZA to take on the sin! And obviously Turkey must take its share from this natural gas Eldorado.

Two other statements not nationalist but still not good enough as they stand in equal distance from Greece and Turkey, can be found at
