This is pretty funny. Reed was interviewed by Katie Halper and brought up
American Affairs and Angela Nagle. I scanned through the interview to find the

I'll be getting around to writing about American Affairs and websites
like it: Bellow, Quillette, and the Quincy Institute. They overlap with
the Harper's Open Letter and the magazine's drift in that direction. In
the latest issue of Harper's, there's a dreadful article titled
"Nonconforming" (https://harpers.org/archive/2020/09/nonconforming/)
that is "Against the erosion of academic freedom by identity politics".
What I find striking about Reed in all this is that American Affairs was
trying to woo him. $2000 for a book review? Whoever heard of such a
thing? Love to find out who is funding American Affairs. Poor Reed has
to rail against American Affairs in order to draw clear lines between
him and a magazine that publishes Angela Nagle, when in fact there's
still a lot of overlap. Just consider that Catalyst published an article
by Amber A'Lee Frost who is okay with Nagle. Six degrees of separation...
