More religion proselytizing - especially regular recently by Andrew S. on
Buddhism - as "Inspiration and Miracles"

Louis P. believes that I am a "islamaphobe" - when I just view the mysticism
and superstition of ALL these religions - as reactionary,
whether Abrahamic or Hindu, Buddhist, Zorastrian, etc, etc. They all disdain
Gay men equally, as not breeding enough for their to
have more followers, for funding and power. I view them with same disrespect,
since they are the source of much homophobia and sexism.

Many religions are used by those in power - to stay in power.
There is an illusion by some, that Buddhism is generally progressive -
"nonviolent and atheist" - in its practice some believe

Yet, as with many others, there is a left faction and definitely a larger
political right faction.

And much hypocrisy on what their religion writings state - and what many
Buddhists actually practice.

Some examples:

It was a Buddhist monk who murdered the left wing Sri Lanka (Ceylon) prime
minister Bandaranaike in 1959.
The Japan Buddhist reactionaries were big supporters of Japan's military and
wars and occupations in the 20th Century.

No different than the other "religions of peace" - here is a wikipedia listing
on some:

Buddhism and violence -
Wikipedia<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddhism_and_violence>
Buddhism encompasses a variety of traditions, beliefs and spiritual practices
largely based on teachings attributed to Gautama Buddha.. Nirvana is the
earliest and most common term for the goal of the Buddhist path and the
ultimate eradication of dukkha—nature of life that innately includes
"suffering", "pain" or "unsatisfactoriness". Violent actions and thoughts,
actions which harm and ...

.and moral-religious building
block of Chinese society" (p. 52). There are three levels in Chinese
engagement in religious activities: the individual, the household,
and the community. For rural China, the order of the three, perhaps,
is reversed: community goes first (because of communal hegemony as
explained in chapter 4 of _Miraculous Response_) before household and
individual. In terms of modalities for doing religion, in the
agrarian sphere for peasants, it is a combination of relational and
the immediate-practical plus the liturgical modalities. For city
folks, the individual and family come first as a result of the
atomization of society and increasingly nuclearized homes. For them,
there is a coming together of three modalities of doing religion: the
discursive-scriptural modality, self-cultivational modality, and
relational modality. The introduction of the "household as [the]
basic unit of religious engagement" has allowed the author to cover
both rural and urban China.

The above brief review is perhaps enough to allow us to see the
abundance, richness, and span of knowledge of Chinese religion
covered in the book under review. .

Many issues and topics in Chinese religion are only briefly alluded to in
book. Depth was sacrificed for breadth, but this is the right thing
to do for a book of two hundred pages in length. The choice of
breadth does not overshadow the insight and inspiration the book
provides.
