1. Yes, the Bolsheviks overthrew capitalism in Russia but it was not a 
developed Western society but still a predominantly peasant one which is why I 
did not refer to it in my comments.

2. Yes, there were revolutionary crises in the West, particularly in the 
aftermath of the Russian Revolution and during the depression between the world 
wars, but my point was that was then and this is now. If  revolutions couldn't 
be realized when the militant and expanding workers movement was at its highest 
point, it's delusional to believe you're engaged in "revolutionary" politics 
when that movement is at its lowest ebb.

3. It's at its lowest ebb not because we don't follow the advice you and others 
freely dispense about how to resurrect it but because of the effects of 
automation, globalization, atomization, and the fragmentation of work in a 
service economy which has sharply reduced the size, confidence, bargaining 
power and political influence of the trade unions.
