On the same subject, I strongly recommend the podcast Hollywood Exiles, a joint BBC-CBC documentary superbly hosted by Oona Chaplin, Charlie’s granddaughter. I've linked to a capsule description of each episode in the ten-part series in which Chaplin, Dalton Trumbo, Norma Barzman (John is mentioned), Will Geer, Katherine Hepburn and others on the Hollywood left figure prominently together with the cast of villains headed by J.
