Avram Rips may have misread that particular quote from Jeffrey Sachs. Nevertheless, he has a good point. Sachs was one of the foremost US "advisors" who helped the Russian oligarchs steal the state owned economy when capitalism reestablished itself there. He had close connections with these corrupt counterrevolutionaries. Now, he defends the counterrevolutionary and imperialist Russian government's war against the people of Ukraine. He does so by calling for what amounts to the disarming of Ukraine, which would of course mean the complete victory of Russia's invasion. It is a travesty that socialists would quote that counterrevolutionary as a valid authority on anything. Here's another example: In the US Senate we have far right Republican Josh Hawley, whose politics resemble those of Nazi Gregor Strasser - racism with a touch of economic populism. I suppose socialists could use some quotes from him in order to "prove" a point. But would we do so?
