Avram Rips may have misread that particular quote from Jeffrey Sachs. 
Nevertheless, he has a good point. Sachs was one of the foremost US "advisors" 
who helped the Russian oligarchs steal the state owned economy when capitalism 
reestablished itself there. He had close connections with these corrupt 
counterrevolutionaries. Now, he defends the counterrevolutionary and 
imperialist Russian government's war against the people of Ukraine. He does so 
by calling for what amounts to the disarming of Ukraine, which would of course 
mean the complete victory of Russia's invasion. It is a travesty that 
socialists would quote that counterrevolutionary as a valid authority on 
anything. Here's another example: In the US Senate we have far right Republican 
Josh Hawley, whose politics resemble those of Nazi Gregor Strasser - racism 
with a touch of economic populism. I suppose socialists could use some quotes 
from him in order to "prove" a point. But would we do so?
