Perhaps nothing novel or meaningful for us, Hari. Streeck was being interviewed in a Q and A format by a left of centre German daily and his necesssarily condensed answers might well appear shallow to a more politically informed audience. They were primarily aimed at public opinion in Germany and the West conditioned to believe that the Trump administration was fascist, that it was retreating from Europe and Asia and rupturing its relations with its allies and the postwar international order created by US imperialism, and that China and Russia represented the main threats to global peace and stability As you know, these are issues which have also provoked fierce controversy on the far left and the New Left Review editors obviously felt that where a well-known left-wing public intellectual like Streeck positioned himself and how he presented his case might be of interest on both sides, even among those of us who have long considered and have settled opinions on most of these questions. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
