Charles implies that defending Trotsky from lies make the person a Trotskyist. Being a Trotskyist is a wee bit more complex than simply defending him, as Marv does. Trotskyism is a political program with a set of perspectives that include the need to build a Fourth communist International, an analysis of Stalinism (as Trotskyists understand it) that views it and the bureaucracy it represents as counter-revolutionary, rejects ultra-leftism and sectarianism (yes, many/most/some self-described Trotskyists fall into both those categories), opposition to all forms of support for parties of the capitalists/support for independent working class political action, and support the transitional method of raising class consciousness. Marv has never uttered a single word as to his realty to such a program.
