a cross over cable should have T568A for one connector and  T568B  for the other 
connector
and a straight cable should be T568A on both connectors

Yes I am sure it's a cross over cable and I am getting a link
light on both the network cards.  and No I don't have any sound card, both
nics in both systems seem to be operating properly.
