actually if you dont mind  a "slight" (a.k.a. Gargantuan) leak in security

ipfwadm -F -a accept -P tcp  -S 0.0.0.0/0  -D 0.0.0.0/0 2000:2200

chat works fine, then and file transfer most of the time
