You also need to enable the Masquerading Special Modules. I discovered
that minor oops in Gordon's patches - PPTP masq relies on the special
module support, but the PPTP config option is outside of the block
that offers more options if you enable the special modules, hence you
can enable the PPTP masq without enabling the other stuff it relies
upon. If you do that, it won't compile successfully.

Reuben was asking about IPSec, not PPTP. Reuben, visit the VPN Masq
home page. There's a link to an alpha-level IPSec masq patch for the
2.2.9 kernel. If you're comfortable patching your kernel with an
alpha-level patch, I suggest you try it.
