Thanks David, I did find this http://www.suse.de/sdb/en/html/dbloms_no_masquerade_modules.html but it still does not explain the why it works and then stops. I am also really interested in the power of the files in /proc/sys/net/ipv4/* which seem like I could impliment if I could read a man page on them but I can't find any info as I type. ` I popped the kenelmod or modkernel.rpm that they offered and it blew everything all to hell, I couldn't even find my 3C509 eth0 when trying to reconfigure. The command " echo 60 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_keepalive_time entered at the bottom of /sbin/init.d/boot.local is SuSE was recommended but I've been around long enough to wait till I read up on stuff before I try (break) it. It was there that I saw all the other files. I've now reinstalled and back to step-1 which is "surrender to win !" :) :) -- " vivit post funera virtus " Linuxcare, At the center of Linux. http://www.linuxcare.com Bill Schoolcraft http://www.wiliweld.com _______________________________________________ Masq maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] Admin requests can be handled at http://www.indyramp.com/masq-list/ or email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] PLEASE read the HOWTO and search the archives before posting.
