What would it take to move all of the Essex County FDs to UHF? For a bare bones system -
Maybe 1 repeater in Amesbury for Amesbury + Newbury + Newburyport + Salisbury + West Newbury. Maybe 1 repeater for Lawrence and Methuen Maybe 1 repeater for Groveland and Georgetown. Maybe 1 repeater for Haverhill and North Andover. (or North Andover could use the Andover or Groveland repeater probably) Maybe 1 repeater for Rowley and Ipswich and Essex. Maybe 1 repeater for Gloucester + Rockport + Manchester. Repeaters would be for station alerting, and mobiles. All portable radio traffic could be done on simplex fire scene channels. Therefore - maybe 5 or 6 repeaters would be needed at 5 or 6 different sites. No satellite receivers would be needed. No microwave links would be needed.
