The laws of thermodynamics, chaos, differential equations, relativity, and physics do not change because the middle class needs high paying low effort jobs. Global warming is going to produce worse wildfire conditions whether or wildfire suppression capabilities are increased or not. The aging of the population will continue no matter who provides the ambulance ride - $50 per hour people or $10 per hour people. Technology will march on. Will every bedroom have a inexpensive built in automatic dry chemical extinguishing system? Or will corruption, favoritism, and bureaucratic inertia keep the products out of the marketplace forever? How soon will every police vehicle be equipped with CAFS and SCBA? When will fire hydrants be replaced by remote controlled deck guns? When will every room in every structure be equipped with a smart node on the worldwide emergency services computerized alarm / communications system?
