Yes -- we are still supporting Mac OS X 10.3.9 and later (the same versions supported by python.org python). It will be a relief to stop building those libraries, but they're easy enough to build and some of them are newer than the versions originally supplied with Mac OS X (including libz and libfreetype) so it's not necessarily a bad thing to include static versions.
