If you look at the 3d scatter plot example in the tutorial http://matplotlib.sourceforge.net/mpl_toolkits/mplot3d/tutorial.html#scatter-plots you will see exactly the labels problem I am running into. Can it be fixed? At a minimum, what is the right way to prevent the labels from overlapping the ticks, and might the defaults be changed to avoid this?
