Even though you got your HD running again, just by way of future reference,
no :-) Unless the tool is specifically A/UX aware, it won't return anything
useful about the disk partition and it might even trash it.

I'm still mulling over your CD-ROM issue. In my case, I have an external
300CD, so it's never been a problem for me. Strange that the boot and
installation kernel should work with the CD-ROM, but not the production
kernel. The CD-ROM was connected and running while the kernel rebuilt itself
after install, correct?
